>> PERIODONTAL TREATMENT ABROAD
Periodontal (gum) disease, including gingivitis and periodontitis, are serious infections that, left untreated, can lead to tooth and bone loss. They begin when the bacteria in plaque causes the gums to become inflamed. Other possible contributory factors are poor oral hygiene, defective restorations and to a certain extent systemic diseases and their medication (such as diabetes and epilepsy).
Lifestyle-related factors such as smoking or stress can also contribute to the development of the disease. Around half of all Europeans suffer, often unknowingly, from this disease. Unfortunately a growing proportion of younger patients are affected.
Our partner clinics will always strive to achieve periodontal health in the least invasive and most cost-effective manner. In addition to an x-ray examination, the depth and condition of the periodontal pockets is determined and documented using a periodontal probe. Then a procedure known as scaling and root planing (a careful cleaning of the root surfaces to remove plaque and tartar from deep periodontal pockets and to smooth the tooth to remove bacterial toxins) is employed under local anesthetic.
Our partner clinics use vector (ultrasound) and laser-assisted equipment to increase the effectiveness of this procedure. Such advanced methods also result in less bleeding, swelling and discomfort to the patient during treatment.
