Irish Dental Fees Increase
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has published its Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for January 2010. There is bad news for Irish dental patients because, although the Irish CPI as a whole fell by 0.6% in January and doctors’ fees are finally starting to come down, dentists’ fees have risen by 12.8%. In fact, dental fees are the only fees under the health heading, other than hospital charges, that have shown an increase.

Following a query from the Irish Dental Association, the CSO has confirmed that this rise in Irish dentists’ fees is a direct result of recent budgetary changes and reflects the withdrawal of certain PRSI entitlements relating to Dental Benefit.

Good news for Irish patients is, however, that Ultimate Dental Travel will continue to offer great value for money by referring its patients to some of the most advanced private dental clinics in Budapest, Hungary. And our Irish patients shouldn’t forget that many dental treatments carried out in Hungary qualify for Irish Tax Relief, currently at 20%, just as if the treatment had been carried out in their home country!
